i'm afraid of midnight snacks
at first i thought: the toilet needs a scrub.
i opened some windows.
i looked for wet laundry under beds.
today we figured it out: a rat has died in our wall.
in the wall in our kitchen.
(the smell doesn't exactly arouse the appetite.)
we're burning incense as if trying to please a whole arcana of strange gods
strange and angry gods, who sends us 13 plagues of rotten smell.
the other day a rat was sitting in the middle of our lounge, looking a little shaken.
it didn't even run away when we came closer to look at it.
i think it was hiding with us, because them possums climb around in our roof, and they make serious demon noises.
i think the rat might have been killed by a possum.
it's sad. but also very stinky.
***
OMG just found the rat! ugh...
(all i wanted was a midnight snack)
it was behind the fridge. probably shocked to death, eesh.
i realise it's not nice looking at a dead rat, so, rather look at the nifty yellow glove that protected my hand from the manky juices:
by the way, this is a possum on our roof:
they only make those demon noises because they are so cute and they want the other animals to think they're mean.
(sorry little possum for thinking you murdered the rat.)

Ahhhh!!! Louis you are amazing!!!
Now I eat breakfast without the smell of (poor little)stinky rat. YOU ARE THE BEST! Roaming the kitchen at midnight, slaying the stench demons with your mighty yellow glove...I love you!
